THE CHARITIES
Ocean Heroes was formed by Sam Moyle, Luke Hallam and Tom Johnston in 2016. Kids growing up with autism face unique challenges that can make it difficult for them to develop self-confidence and make friends. Learning to surf offers a fun, healthy way for children to develop that confidence, boost their mood and make connections with others.
Ocean Heroes provide an opportunity for children on the autistic spectrum to take part in organised sport backed by a highly supported, safe and inclusive environment. By running events and one-on-one surfing lessons, they offer every kid the chance to experience the thrill of riding a wave.
The Underground Collaborative is a Perth-based social enterprise that provides employment and housing solutions for people experiencing, or at-risk of homelessness.
Their vision is to break the cycles of homelessness through collaboration in providing employment and housing solutions. They plan to address homelessness in 3 ways: Employment, Education and Empowerment.
Through all of these, they believe these small acts will lead to ripples and waves of change. The community will feel inspired to take action, collaborate and work together to help break the cycles of homelessness.
zero2hero envision a world where every child and young person is educated and empowered to effectively deal with mental health issues, and mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life.
zero2hero is dedicated to increasing the understanding of mental health issues and the awareness of mental health services among children and young people through innovative programs, events, and education.
Our programs aim to unleash the heroes of today, to become the leaders of tomorrow in the campaign to promote good mental health throughout their communities.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Looking for a way to get more meaningfully involved with your community?
Here’s how you can get involved with Ocean Heroes, The Underground Collaborative and zero2hero.
- As an Ocean Heroes volunteer, you have the option of helping out on the beach (registrations, donning wetsuits and lifejackets, handing out certificates etc.) or in the water (surfing with participants, an extra help around the participants and their paired surfer).
- The Underground Collaborative love meeting people who have shared value, and they always want help! They’re looking for passionate open-minded individuals, who can work as part of a team, don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty and would like to be a part of something special.
- There’s a role in the zero2hero mission for every single person. Use your superpowers to participate in one of their programs, attend an event, join the team, contribute to the conversation, or support the cause. You can also help in event planning, admin, PR & marketing or become a Camp Hero.
