10x10’s MISSION

“To Empower the Next Generation of Giving”

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. 10 volunteer committee members organise a charity event (1 x venue, 3 x charities, 1 x dragon, food & drink).
  2. Each committee member invites at least 10 of their friends to make a $100 pledge (or more) to attend the event (10x10... get it?) creating a pool of at least $10K.
  3. Upon arrival, each attendee is given 'Charity Dollars' equal to the value of their ‘Pledge’.
  4. After drinks and canapes, attendees are seated to watch the #Dragonforgood question the three chosen charities who pitch, to you the audience, their cause, model and impact.
  5. Each attendee then decides directly who they want to give their ‘Charity Dollars’ to.
  6. Charities receive 100% of the funds raised minus a 10% project fee to 10x10 to cover admin and overhead costs.
  7. You will then receive a tax deductible receipt over 90% of your donation in 4-6 weeks from the charity post the event.

THE CHARITIES

Listed below are the three charities that will be pitching on the night:

Brothers in Arms

Brothers in Arms (BIA) was established to reach the needs of at-risk and vulnerable young people, through providing positive role models in the form of mentors. It started when a group of friends from East Auckland, who wanted to make a difference in their local community, decided to volunteer. They spent quality time with a group of Glen Innes boys and girls who were involved with youth justice, and the trusted relationships they formed had positive and far-reaching implications. It was out of this that Brothers In Arms was formed.

I Got Your Backpack

I Got Your Back Pack provides care packs of practical and essential items to survivors of domestic violence in Womens Refuge, Shine and Shakti safe houses nationwide.  These are donated in the way of much-needed men, women, children & baby packs. Receiving one of these backpacks goes a long way towards easing some of their distress and provides, especially for the children, some much needed positive and comforting distractions in these early days of upheaval and change within their lives. There are significant emotional benefits to these families as they feel better supported and recognised by people in the community.

Mother's Project

Mothers Project connects volunteer lawyers with imprisoned mothers to provide assistance to maintain critical family ties and attachment while the mothers are separated from their children. Mothers Project aims to help these children by facilitating contact with their mothers, alleviating family challenges, and providing access to better information for mothers.
