THE CHARITIES
Australian Ocean Lab (AusOcean) was established in 2017 as an environmental not-for-profit with a mission to help our oceans through technology.
Working in marine conservation, AusOcean designs, builds and deploys open source ocean technology including sea surface platforms and custom sensors. Data is transmitted straight to the “cloud”, where it is stored, analysed and shared.
Improving global understanding of oceans and their value relies on innovation that improves accessibility, lowers costs, and removes barriers between groups of users. AusOcean aims to transform the way in which ocean data is collected and communicated by leveraging low-cost, open source data and technology.
BioR is a not-for-profit organisation that generates funds, knowledge and practical skills to re-construct habitats that support native wildlife in degraded landscapes.
BioR supports research that improves our knowledge of the habitat requirements of fauna, and research that improves the quality of reconstructed habitats so that they will support threatened plants and animals in the future.
BioR’s Flagship projects include 175 hectares of previously cleared farmland at Cygnet Park, Kangaroo Island that has been revegetated; and current efforts to reconstruct woodland habitats on the 550-hectare Frahn’s Farm near Monarto.
BioR’s vision is for biodiversity to be secure for all future generations to enjoy. Past vegetation clearance has been so great that many species, plant and animal, will continue to decline and disappear. Reconstructing resilient and self-sustaining habitats is needed to prevent these imminent losses.
The Forktree Project is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2020 which is restoring 53 hectares of extensively cleared pastoral farmland in the Fleurieu Peninsula. By planting almost 20,000 native trees and shrubs, Forktree aims to create valuable habitat while also sequestering tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide over the life of the project to help combat climate change.
Forktree is also working to educate and inspire the local communities about the importance of environmental stewardship; trialling better methods of measuring above and below-ground carbon; and constructing a seed nursery of native plants for local landowners’ ongoing revegetation efforts.
Forktree’s goals are critical to combating the biodiversity loss and climate change threats facing Australia. Australia is one of seven countries responsible for over 50 percent of global biodiversity loss. Small to medium-sized properties like Forktree represent the majority of rural properties in Australia, and have a huge, largely untapped potential to help combat these twin threats.

AUCTION
As part of the event and fundraising effort, you will have the opportunity to bid at auction for a piece by acclaimed South Australian painter, Tsering Hannaford, as well as mentoring sessions from leading Adelaide professionals. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the three charities.
THE PIECE:
This framed print of ‘Violet Phalaenopsis Orchid’ was inspired by the beauty of the highly structural Phalaenopsis orchid. Originating in South East Asia, these orchids can be artificially coloured, bringing a range of beautiful and unusual effects. The subtle violet appears natural but on closer inspection, it is not the petals themselves that carry the hue, but the veins through which the artificial dye has been carried.
Dimensions: 69cm x 70cm, in a 2cm wide oak frame, 4cm depth. Printed on 310 GSM Hahnemuhle Etching Paper (German etching paper), this is a limited edition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist.
The print retails for $600 framed.
Reserve price: $200
TSERING HANNAFORD:
Tsering is a young South Australian artist, who has already attracted acclaim for her realistic works in oils during the emerging years of her career. Daughter of eminent portrait painter Robert Hannaford, her work has been recognised on a national and international stage. A six-time finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize, this year she took second place and was Highly Commended for the award. She has represented Australia internationally via participation in Art Circle Residence in Germany in 2019 and this year via digital link in Sweden. Her portraits can be found in public and private collections across Australia.
Tsering’s still-life work explores subtleties in light and atmosphere. Painting from life, she expresses a reflective stillness in her work, bringing a sense of tranquillity and order through her subject matter. She encourages the viewer to look closer, to appreciate overlooked details.
BUSINESS MENTORS FOR AUCTION
You have the opportunity to bid on a private mentoring session with these incredible professionals who have generously donated their time and knowledge. Mentoring sessions are a one hour, one-on-one session - timing to be scheduled between the mentor and bid winner.

ABOUT 10x10
10×10 Philanthropy is a live crowdfunding charity, comprised of young professionals, who raise funds for innovative grassroots charities by hosting 100+ guests at inspiring events.
Established in Sydney in 2013, 10×10 and its network of millennial and Gen Z volunteers have grown their operations to 15 major cities around the world – expanding throughout Australia and internationally to Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Auckland.
Social distancing has moved some of our live fundraising events online to digital events. Our network of 800+ volunteers are currently working remotely, pivoting 10×10 to digital platforms. We not only continue despite the Coronavirus pandemic, this year our volunteer Project Committees have broken records in delivering vital funds, awareness and volunteers for grassroots organisations working in communities impacted by the pandemic.
To propagate the 10x10 mission, 10% of funds raised are paid forward towards the start-up and delivery of the next 10x10 project, ensuring that the cycle of giving continues and new grassroots charities performing essential work are identified and supported.
